Tingi o ne a dula le nkgono wa hae.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


O ne a hlokomela dikgomo le yena.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Ka tsatsi le leng ha fihla masole.

One day the soldiers came.


A nka dikgomo.

They took the cows away.


Tingi le nkgono wa hae ba baleha ba ipata.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Ba ipata morung ho fihlela bosiu.

They hid in the bush until night.


Masole a kgutla.

Then the soldiers came back.


Nkgono a pata Tingi tlasa mahlaku.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Le leng la masole la beha leoto la lona hodima hae, empa Tingi a thola a re tu!

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Eitse ha ho se ho bolokehile, Tingi le nkgono wa hae ba tswa.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Ba kgukguna ba ya hae ka setu.

They crept home very quietly.
